Introduction

Pharmacology is the branch of medicine and biology concerned with the study of drug action, where a drug can be broadly defined as any man-made, natural, or endogenous (within the body) molecule which exerts a biochemical and/or physiological effect on the cell, tissue, organ, or organism. More specifically, it is the study of the interactions that occur between a living organism and chemicals that affect normal or abnormal biochemical function. The major academic objectives of the Department are to facilitate Basic and Applied Research, educate under graduate and professional students in various disciplines and provide academic excellence. The Department is engaged in teaching all the subjects related to Pharmacology and Toxicology to the undergraduate students. Our mission is to provide quality preclinical and clinical education in pharmacology and toxicology for students, to educate and train the graduates to carry out basic research.
