Faculty Overview


The Faculty of Animal Production and Technology (FAP&T) is a vibrant and important faculty within SBBUVAS imparting high quality education and hands-on training to undergraduate students at D.V.M level in all disciplines of Animal Sciences and enhancing productivity of Livestock, Poultry and Animal Product Technologies for “Continued Professional Development” (CPD), conducting cross cutting research to develop new technologies and processes to increase milk, meat, eggs production and value addition of these vital food products.
The Faculty of Animal Production & Technology with its’ Seven Departments i.e. Livestock Production, Poultry Production, Animal Products Technology, Animal Nutrition, Animal Breeding & Genetics, Meat Science and Technology and Leather & Fiber Technology is keeping pace with the requirements of allied sectors by fulfilling the needs of human resource, development of appropriate technologies and conducting problem oriented research. Many short training courses & diploma courses are also offered for the farmers and stake holders in the field of livestock, poultry production and animal products technology. The highly qualified, experienced & dedicated young energetic faculty members devoted to the cause of education in the country have made significant contribution in their specific fields of specialization.
FAPT has recently gone through major administrative and operational changes and all of its components have now been successfully relocated at Agriculture Training Institute (ATI) old building about 1.5 KM from the main Campus on spread over 8 hectors of land. Due to its relocation, new opportunities and major developments are in the process of completion.
To improve quality of education and practical skills of the students, the Faculty has Livestock and Poultry Demonstration Farms with the purpose of providing practical insight and hands-on training to the students.
Faculty of Animal Production and Technology also has a highly vibrant and supporting environment with equal opportunities to prosper, grow and develop. This is due to highly positive and able leadership that has been available in the past and present for being leaders in their respective disciplines. All the staff is highly competent and proficient not only in teaching but having excellent skills to build up and win successfully competitive foreign scholarships in large number. That is why FAP&T is probably most prolific faculty among SBBUVAS.
The future vision of this faculty is to produce high quality Human Resource in all sectors of Livestock and Poultry production and value addition while working closely with poultry and livestock industries.
FAP&T considers vocational trainings as an essential part of continued professional development for Veterinary Professionals working in the country. During 2017-18 FAP&T successfully conducted two NAVTTC trainings under Prime Minister`s Youth Skills Development Program on different aspects of Dairy and Poultry Production to meet the needs of dairy and poultry industry.
Our young teachers, staff members and administrators—want to make a difference. We provide many experiences in an effort to nurture this desire in our students: every kind of classroom, the best instruction, meaningful fieldwork and opportunities for service learning.
